Zero Balancing :

Zero Balancing is a gentle but powerful hands-on method for harmonizing the body's energy and structure. Developed by Fritz Smith, M.D., osteopath and acupuncturist, Zero Balancing integrates Western concepts of anatomy with Eastern principles of energy and healing. In particular, Zero Balancing workd with energy flowing through the bones and joints of the body. Interruptions to this flow can result from physical, mental or emotional disturbances. Through gentle and specific touch these lockages can be released and balance restored. The effects of a Zero Balancing session include: Relief from physical pain and mental or emotional distress. A greater capacity to manage difficult situations or transitional times. The ability to live a fuller life. An awareness of one's innate well being and activation of one's self-healing resources.

Applied Physiology :

Applied physiology and muscle monitoring; Attitude with essence;  Research and Developed By Richard Utt, L.Ac.

Applied Physiology (AP) allows the practitioner to ascertain through what are called alarm points in each of the fourteen meridians and to know, through a system based on kinesiology, exactly those techniques necessary to correct the imbalances.  Although the conscious mind of an individual may not recognize its own imbalances and therefore not know how to heal them, the body does, and through simple technique the practitioner of AP can learn what they are.

A large variety of techniques exist to balance a meridian, a few example of which are acupressure, massage, reflexology of the hands and feet,  homeopathic remedies, therapeutic sound and color, directly assisting movement if Chi, and emotional catharsis.  However, only those therapies that the meridian and the individual needs are use.

What is a Flower Essence

An Essence is an extremely diluted liquid which contains the essence and vibration of a flower.  It is used to “bring clarity to the conscious mind and resolve negative beliefs.  The essences directly effect us at the level where we make subconscious decisions about our emotions, health, energy, life directions, abilities and relationships; essentially how we are in the world.  As a result real physical changes and emotional healing occurs.  (Ian White)

How do Attitudes & Thoughts Affect the Body

In a Human, the attitude gives direction to behavior.  when it meets and attachment or thought, inner conflict is created.  The resulting friction creates intense emotions and feelings which, in turn, cause malfunctions of the body, mind, and spirit.  The individual has symptoms of physical illness; loses his ability to respond (his free will), only reacting; and becomes discouraged

Sweat Lodge:

Traditional Sweat Lodges are held at Rancho La Reforma. The ceremonies are conducted by Rupert Encinas or Hopi/Tewa/Havasupai, Mona Polacca. The tradition of participating in a Sweat Lodge is a long-held spiritual practice of many Native Americans; however, this practice may differ from tribe to tribe or within tribes. One belief is common to all and that is that the Sweat Lodge is a Purification Ceremony.

  • A circular structure is built from willows, the willow is chosen because it bends easily as we should be flexible in life, the structure is the covered with a tarp rendering it light-tight.  The opening to the Sweat Lodge is low so that all who enter must enter with humility on bent knee and barefooted. Once inside, each participant proclaims "For All My Relations" since we are all related to each other, to our ancestors, to the past and future, to all creatures on Mother Earth, to the Universe. The proclamation is answered with "Aho" or "yes" which signals the acceptance of the prayer or petition. Then the participant crawls around the Lodge clockwise to their place where they will sit or kneel during the ceremony. The dirt floor of the interior is covered with carpet for comfort. The center of the lodge has a put into which the hot stones or "Grandfathers" are places by the helper of the Ceremony.
  • The ceremony within the Sweat Lodge begins when the flap at the entrance is closed after the first round of glowing stones have been placed in the pit.  The ceremony consists of prayers, chants, and teaching by the leader.  The leader showers the glowing stones with water and herbs.  Each participant is encourages to say a public prayer, comment, express their feelings, or ask for a moment of silence.  Everything that is said inside the Sweat Lodge is considered confidential.  It is not uncommon for a participant to remain outside the flap during the ceremony or remain inside the Lodge for only a portion of the ceremony.  It is common courtesy to request permission to enter or leave the Lodge.  Once the Sweat Lodge is completed, each participant exists the Lodge and stands in a circle around the fire.  As each person emerges, they are greeted by each participant who has already exited.  The Sweat Lodge Ceremony will be followed by a simple meal (Pot Luck).
Personal Preparations
  • Preparation for the Sweat Lodge is important in order to receive benefit from the Ceremony and to afford the proper respect for this sacred ritual.  Since there are many similarities between the Sweat Lodge and saunas, many people mistakenly approach the Sweat Lodge merely as a practice to improve ones physical health.  Although there are other documents, the Sweat Lodge is part of the spiritual practice for both Native Americans and non Natives.  Although you may have decided to participate in the Sweat Lodge in order to learn more about the practices of another culture, please be reminded that this is part of a sacred right and Spiritual practice.  Whatever the purpose for your participation, please approach the experience with an open heart and a clear mind.  As in any situation, respect and humility are appreciated.
  • Women who are having there "moon time" (menstruation) may not participate in the Sweat Lodge.  It is considered that women are going through there own internal purification during that time and so the Sweat Lodge is not appropriate.
  • The Sweat Lodge is not recommended for pregnant women.
Attire
  • Modest and comfortable best describe the attire of the Sweat.  Shoes that can be easily removed are helpful.  Women are asked to wear a long cotton dress or skirt and blouse or top with sleeves (no Tank-tops or bathing suits please).  Men wear modest shorts or trunks.  You may want to bring along a jacket or sweater to wear after the sweat so you will not get chilled.  You may also want to bring two towels, one for use in the Lodge and one dry one for use after you have exited the Lodge.  A flashlight is help full it will be dark after the ceremony is completed.  You may bring a bottle of water to take inside the Lodge.  But it is more traditional to share water during the break between each round.
Health and Comfort
  • If you are suffering from a health problem you should check with your doctor about participating in the Sweat.  Sometime healthy people find certain aspects about the Lodge uncomfortable.  This comfort can be managed by putting mind over matter focusing on the ceremony staying low to the ground where there is less heat and humidity, etc.  Since the lodge is small and the number if participants varies, those who tend to be claustrophobic might find it difficult.  By being one of the first to enter the Lodge or  one of last, you can sit or kneel closer to the door.  Some people may find total darkness uncomfortable.  Closing ones eyes while the flap is closing may be helpful.  "Meeting yourself", your true self, in the Sweat Lodge and facing you fears can be part of the experience and can provide the opportunity for growth.
Final Words
  • Please do not feel obliged to participate.  Although sacred ceremonies cannot be bought, it is customary to offer a donation.  Money should not interfere with anyones participation.
